NEWS

4/11/05 - We've moved to our new location (as of Jan.), check out the pictures. Recent recordings completed, begun or continued: The Ragbirds, Roy Scoutz/Mark Guitierrez, Makkafroi, Mary Margaret, Erik Adams (The Invisible Elephant Project), Battlecross, The Boomerrangs, CityGoat, and many, more...

11/1/04 - In the past few months we've had RootStand, Paul's Big Radio, Opus, Dave Sharp, Polly Darkly, Erin Zindle, Singers of United Lands, Matt Tommasini, and many, many more... So busy I haven't been able to update the news!!! FYI - The studio will remain open and in it's current location until at least Jan. 2005, and after a brief 2 weeks off, relocate to a new, better, very cool, location (same amount of floor space, much better layout). I'll keep you posted.

7/26/04 - We just started editing and mixing the upcoming VOX (an Ann Arbor based, early music vocal ensemble) CD. We did the recording at the end of May @ St. Thomas's Church in Ann Arbor (an absolutely beautiful acoustic space). It's a really gorgeous set of performances... keep your eye out for this CD in October.

6/21/04 - Mary Margaret is in the studio for the next couple days, recording an all acoustic record... you may have seen this A2/Ypsi sensation at TC's Speakeasy's Thursday open mic, doin' a couple Joni Mitchell tunes... her originals are just as compelling, soulful and complex... keep your eye on this girl, she's a serious talent.

6/20/04 - A bunch of news: PeaceByPiece's new CD "The Elements" is now available -get a copy here. Pardonato has released it's new CD of pop deconstructions "Original Flavor" available here. The Into the Freylakh CD is now complete and should be out very, very soon. Craig Baker's posthumus CD "Song From the Stars" was recently released, and is available at Rubber Soul Records and elsewhere. Producer NAuj Epiph was in a couple weeks ago doing a serious hip-hop track. Jesse Kincaid and the Campfire Boys have been in several times, finishing up their radio show.

4/16/04 - I just got word that Craig Baker passed away yesterday, after a long illness. I feel profoundly privileged to have been touched by his music... my most sincere condolences to all his family and friends. D.

4/11/04 - Singers Of United Lands (SOUL) filled the studio with a capella vocal music from South Africa, New Zealand, Serbia, and the Phillipines for the last couple days while recording their premiere CD. They're a really great 5 voice ensemble with a very interesting mission, check out their website here. Here's a picture from the session.

4/8/04 - Jesse Kincaid and friend were in last night starting production on a top secret radio show... The Campfire Boys. If last night was any indication of where the show is going, I'm really looking forward to the rest of the project. More later...

4/3/04 - We were most honored to have The Monkey Power Trio in the studio yesterday for their annual recording project. If you don't know them you should. Fantastic, crazy, groovy creativity flowing for 8 hours straight (they're also really nice and quite funny). I can't wait to find out which 4 songs (of at least 10) they release.

3/29/04 - Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of Ypsi keyboard legend, Mark Boone (and sometimes Boomerangs member), we have just acquired a beautifully maintained Hammond M3 (the baby B3). It sounds great, looks great and is REALLY heavy. Thank you Mark!!!!

3/16/04 - Just got the final Master of PeaceByPiece's new EP The Elements, we did the mixing and additional recording, as well as production duties at the original sessions at Studio 98 in NYC. It sounds great. Check out the pre-master sample here.

3/14/04 - Dan Mulholland's (formerly of the Shanks, the Stomp Rockets, and many more) new band The Boomerangs, filled the studio with raw, bluesy garage rock and recorded a raucous 3 song demo. Pictures: 1, 2. Tracks: Thunderbird ESQ

2/28/04 - Ypsilanti's own The Jealous Type were in today for a marathon mastering session for their new CD. It really sounds great... trippy, punky, noisy. I love this job. I'll check with the band and see if they'll allow us to post a track.

2/20/04 - I've been in mixing sessions most of this week with Bryan Pardo, mixing the upcoming CD from Michigan's best klezmer band Into the Freylakh. It's going to be a dynamite CD... I'll try to post something as soon as we're finished with the mastering.

2/14/04 - Craig Baker has been in the last few days working on a new acoustic album... it's been a great pleasure to record and mix these fantastic songs. Fiddler Bob and others joined in on much of the record. I'll see if I can post an MP3 of one of the songs at some point in the future. Here's a picture:

(Craig is center, Fiddler Bob on his right, and since I'm a really bad reporter, I don't have everyone else's name, but they were a lot of fun to work with)

2/11/04 - local Senegalese Kora virtuoso, Mady Kouyate, came in tonight and recorded some amazing solos... Here's an MP3 of one that he's graciously allowed us to post (really amazing, well worth the download) - Bangyereye
